A diary of more goings-ons at Aird Hill.

Diary | Guest Book

Spring has well and truly sprung in Badachro and the recent, fantastic weather has encouraged all sorts of wildlife activity. The ducks and hens are broody and sitting on eggs, so we expect ducklings and chicks soon. The shrubs and flowers are blooming and it all looks gorgeous!

We have completed the build of 'Little Aird Hill' which is now available for week long self catering breaks and our guests so far are loving it. Check it out now as it really is lovely!

One of our pals is a helicopter pilot and he took this photo a couple of days ago which shows the western end of Badachro Bay and Aird Hill close to centre stage. Unfortunately, we weren't up in the air with him, but what a fantastic shot.

Vanessa's strawberry and raspberry garden in Gairloch is looking fantastic with large, lush plants promising loads of fruit for the local restaurants and shops and maybe even some freshly made ice cream! My bees are working their wee wings off in this glorious weather and will be pollinating the fruit plants and making loads of honey; sometimes on the B&B table, sometimes for sale, but sometimes not.

Our little black lab puppy, Timo, is now enormous, bigger than 4 year old Ellis, but he's such a soft baby. Just as well with 2 young kids and guests coming and going, but don't be surprised if you arrive to an enthusiastic welcome. We have no pigs in the grounds of Aird Hill this summer, as the land really does need to recover, but we do have one on a friend's croft, so our famous home produced sausages are still on the go. More hens, and a fantastically characterfull bantam cockerel called Harvey mean a sure supply of our own fresh, free ranged organic eggs for all our guests, while the ducks are fun to watch as they nose through the sunroom windows at breakfast time.

The shortcut from Aird, down what was the old road along the shore and over the old metal bridge. Simply a better way to the Badachro Inn!

Our wee motor boat is once again in the water and the sailing dingy will be soon, so those 'Swallows & Amazons' type days we enjoy so much each summer will hopefully be with us again soon. All we need now is the sunshine and the time. Haa! If you fancy coming up on or with your own boat, let us know in advance as we have a mooring in the middle of the bay which can be made available to guests.

We have managed to fit in a few walks so far this year, up Ben Eighe, across to Slaggan Bay and as always, around Red Point. There can't be a more beautiful place in the world than Wester Ross when the weather is kind!

This is the old ruin beside Slaggan Bay, a lovely deserted beach about an hour's walk from the Mellon Udrigle road.
